Travel Information

Patagonia Tourism

To get the most out of your Patagonia trip, it is important to be prepared. In order to help make your time with us the best it can be, we’re pleased to provide some helpful information regarding what to bring and what to expect, as well as to answer some commonly asked questions.

Weather –  It’s important to note that the seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are reversed from those in the northern—so when it is summer in the United States, for example, it is winter in Patagonia (and vice versa). Keep this in mind when planning your trip.

Different seasons bring different advantages, but no matter what time of the year you travel to Patagonia, you’ll enjoy yourself.  In general, though, the best temperatures are in the summer time; the spring is the best time to admire the flora, and in fall and winter, the sunsets and sunrises are astonishing.

Temperatures –  The annual average is 6ºC to 7ºC (43ºF to 45ºF). In summer the temperature varies between 13ºC and 20ºC (55ºF to 68ºF), and in winter the average temperature over 1ºC (34ºF).

Wind – can be windy in Patagonia, particularly in summer. The average wind speed is 15 to 20 kilometers per hour (nine to 13 miles per hour); In summer the wind speed can increase to an average of 120 kilometers per hour (74 miles per hour) or higher, so it’s important to plan for this.
