All three properties are owned by New York financier and philanthropist Julian Robertson and family and managed by son Julian ‘Jay’ Robertson. There are some of the most awarded and acclaimed luxury destinations in the world.
The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is one of the world’s most extraordinary luxury destinations, set on a 6,000 acre sheep and cattle farm with breathtaking views over the Pacific in the Hawke’s Bay wine region. With just 24 ultra-comfortable and spacious “cottage” suites and a four bedroom “Owner’s Cottage”, all with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, a stay at the Relais + Chateaux Cape Kidnappers is truly “farm luxe” at its best. This stunning Lodge exterior resembles a cluster of farm buildings and exudes great character, with the interior giving way to beautifully appointed and graciously scaled lounge and dining rooms, full of natural light and perfectly designed to capture the unparalleled views.
Each suite has room-controlled air conditioning, high-speed wireless internet, remote control flatscreen LCD TV, DVD, CD player with iPod connection, security safe, fully stocked complimentary mini-bar, walk-in closet, spacious bathroom with heated towel rack, separate WC and shower stalls, oversized bath tub and twin vanities. A 180-degree panoramic views of the farm, golf course and Pacific Ocean are enjoyed from each suite’s private balcony. Interior design is by Linda Bedell of Aspen, Colorado.
Ideal for a family or group of friends traveling together, The Owners Cottage consists of 4 deluxe bedrooms with fireplaces, large bathrooms, walk-in closets and private balconies, large living room with stone fireplace, open kitchen and dining area, 2 small sitting rooms with fireplaces, TVs and comfortable seating, entrance foyer, powder room, stone terrace and outdoor jacuzzi. The cottage can berented as a 2 bedroom or 4 bedroom house.
Food and wine are highlights of any visit here. Conde Nast Traveller Magazine UK listed The Farm at Cape Kidnappers in its 2011 Gold List and named it Best for Food among an outstanding line-up of worldwide luxury hotels. The Farm offers gourmet à la carte dining in a number of unique lodge locations as well as a wine tasting room and cellar showcasing top wines from New Zealand and beyond.
The Tom Doak designed Cape Kidnappers Golf Course has international status as a “must play” course, voted 27th in the world by Golf Magazine. Non-golfers and golfers alike can take advantage of Hawke’s Bay’s fishing, beaches, arts and crafts and fantastic wineries, while the farm property lends itself to farm tours, spectacular hikes, gourmet picnics plus kiwi discovery walks and gannet safaris. A luxury spa where you can have a facial or massage while gazing out across some stunning farm landscape to the Pacific Ocean beyond is a highlight.
Terms & Conditions
All accommodation rates and package rates are quoted in New Zealand dollars and exclude applicable 15% Govt Goods & Services Tax
Rates are quoted on a per person per night basis based on double/twin occupancy in each room (with the exception of the Owners Cottage which is quoted per night based on maximum 4 guests)
A holiday season surcharge of NZD $200.00 + 15% Govt Goods & Services Tax per person per night applies to guests staying 24th December – 3rd January (inclusive).
A two night minimum stay applies to the high season 15th December – 31st March.
Interconnecting rooms are available and must be booked in conjunction with relevant suite (with the exception of the Lodge Room at Matakauri Lodge which can be reserved independently)
Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket to dinner and we ask that guests respect the non smoking policy within the Lodge and guest rooms
Rates subject to change and will be confirmed at the time of reservation
Children and Families:
Infants & Children under the age of 5 are free of charge when occupying adults room using existing bedding. Cribs are available complimentary for children up to the age of 2. Additional Beds can be arranged for Deluxe Suites at Matakauri Lodge, Lodge & Ridge Suites at Cape Kidnappers, and Deluxe Suites at Kauri Cliffs only and a charge will apply.
Alternate dining arrangements will be made for all children under the age of 12 after 7PM
Cancellation Policies
FIT Reservation Cancellation Policy (3 rooms or less)
Outside 90 days prior to arrival – No Charge
90-31 days prior to arrival – $250.00 transaction fee
30-14 days prior to arrival – 50% charge for the room nights cancelled
Inside 14 days prior to arrival – Full charge for the room nights cancelled
Holiday Season Cancellation Policy (3 rooms or less)
Applies to reservations 24 December – 3 January
Outside 90 days prior to arrival – No Charge
90 – 60 days prior to arrival – 50% charge for the room nights cancelled
Inside 60 days prior to arrival – Full charge for the room nights cancelled
