The Experience
Located in the heart of the Douro valley, classified as world heritage by UNESCO, the Aquapura Douro Valley is surrounded by a magnificent landscape overlooking the Douro river.
The hotel opened in 2007 and has as its trademark a contemporary and sophisticated design, with an exceptional attention to detail and exotic art. Each space is unique and reflects the colours and textures of the douro region. The balance between the traditional architecture of a 19th century building and its interior design based on pure and contemporary lines gave rise to an atmosphere where serenity reigns. From its balconies or wide panoramic windows one can enjoy stunning views of terraced slopes covered with century old vineyards overlooking the majestic Douro river.
The hotel, set in 8 hectares of land, has 50 rooms and suites, 21 villas, a spa with 2.200 m2, 2 restaurants, a bar and a pool bar, a wine-room, a library, an outside heated swimming pool, a tennis court, a meeting lounge and 5 hectares of forest.

All rooms and bathrooms are fitted with the most modern equipments: heated bathroom floors, shower and a wide and comfortable bath tub. The villas, ideal for family or more secluded stays, enjoy all the facilities of the Hotel and have their own private pools. They include a fully equipped kitchen and an open fireplace in the living-room
ROOMS & VILLAS
The Rooms | Each space, each room, each area has a welcoming feel to it, where carefully chosen materials are combined with works of art. In each room (with areas between 39 m2 to 50 m2) warm colours combine with the purity of grey and white. Pure lines and vast sofas are the perfect setting for a relaxing atmosphere. You can enjoy the terrace from several rooms and from the panoramic windows one feels surrounded by vineyards and the Douro river.
The Suites | 158 m²), in a décor of white, beige and black, are framed by beautiful panoramic views embracing the vines and the river. Each suite includes a bedroom and a sitting area, each one having as its inspiration a different theme: wine, its history or the river.

The Villas | The 21 villas aquapura villas offer a stay of pure refinement and sophistication. With an area raging from 140 m2 to 234 m2, each villa has one, two or three floors, and is fully furnished with one, two or three bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, as well as an option for a private pool, making it ideal for long stays with family or friends. Elegant décors unite the warmth of wood with the brilliance of chrome, which highlights the pureness of its geometrical and contemporary design.
BAR & RESTAURANTS
Aquapura Douro Valley has two restaurants, a bar and a pool bar. In the oldest demarcated wine region in the world wine plays a major role in the hotel’s restaurants. The traditional and the new Douro wines are largely represented.
The gastronomic concept in Aquapura is in gastronomical terms a Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, which stands out for its simplicity and hides the constant search, dedication and willingness to innovate by improving our traditions without breaking with the past, presenting traditional flavours in a contemporary presentation.
Vale de Abraão restaurant | Located on the ground-floor, with a large and informal outside area, in the cloister. and overlooking the swimming pool, one can enjoy the tranquillity of the views of the valley. Suggestions for breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered throughout the week.
Almapura restaurant | An intimate space where the flavours of the douro are presented in a carefully prepared menu using local and seasonal products. The Chef invites to a culinary voyage that blends traditional portuguese products with modern international cuisine. Experience the “food & feeling” concept, a contemporary menu combining portuguese traditions with international recipes. Open every night for dinner.
Bar | A wide and comfortable room in a relaxing and intimate style, located next to the restaurants and a large terrace overlooking the douro river, it offers an endless list of reasons to enjoy the sunset on the river or a drink after dinner. Try our cocktails, Port wines or drinks inspired by the region. A charming place that invites you to a journey where you can discover the wonderful new Portuguese wines, as well as wines from all over the world. A port and chocolate tasting or a wide range of teas can be the perfect match to a delicious selection of desserts. Open from 10 am to 12pm, Sunday to Thursday, and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Pool Bar | In an informal and relaxed atmosphere, by the outside swimming pool, it offers a menu made up of light and healthy options (even for youngsters)
Wine room | In one of the world’s most emblematic wine regions enjoy the privilege of a private meal or wine tasting. The wine room is one of the other hotel’s offers. Wine-inspired contemporary design set the ambience to an exclusive setting for private functions for up to 16 people.
