The Experience

andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

CC Africa is now andBeyond.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is situated in the unfenced Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area that forms one ecosystem with the Serengeti National Park. The conservation area is the main wet season (November to May) grazing area for the majority of the Serengeti’s migratory animal herds.  Ngorongoro Crater is the permanent home of up to 25,000 animals, almost half of them zebra and wildebeest.

Crater lodge consists of three adjacent, glamorous camps with 30 Maasai-inspired suites perched on stilts on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.  Set in classic crescents, each stone and thatch suite has spectacular views of the crater from large glass windows in the bathroom, lounge and bedroom, yet is almost invisible from the crater floor.  All suites feature fresh roses and electric blankets, en suite bathroom and chandelier-lit bath-tub and shower.  Each of the exclusive camps operates independently. They each have a central living area and viewing decks overlooking the awesome crater.

Pan-African cuisine is served in our outdoor dining area or dining room. The domed dining room, with its welcoming fireplace, crystal, silver and massive wooden platters, treat every meal as a special occasion.

Activities include daily game drives in closed Land Rovers with pop up roofs into the crater (half day and full day), interpretive walks, adventures, croquet and boulle, board games and a stunning collection of wildlife books, magazines and videos.

The three discrete safari camps of andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge are located at the edge of what can only be described as an African Eden. The incredible crater, a World Heritage site, is home to 30,000 animals. The continent’s largest black-maned lions live here, as do multitudes of zebra and wildebeest. When you’re not out on game drives, enjoy the luxurious lodge, which evokes a blend of Versailles Palace and Masai village and offers every creature comfort, from personal butler service to a cozy fireplace. Enjoy a delectable dinner overlooking the crater below, savoring the saffron, nutmeg and vanilla hints in the cuisine.

Visit the nearby Masai village, where the lodge has built new classrooms, provided skills training and invested in community projects.Distance from Lake Manyara airstrip: 90 minutes
